'54 P90 Casino Set

This is our Casino (and 330) specific version of our dogear P90s.

The Casino (and 330) has a curved top which requires different-shaped covers and baseplates for both the neck and bridge pickups.

If you have one of these guitars, this is the option to choose.

The covers are made from German nickel silver and are available in nickel, raw nickel and chrome.

Anyway, back to the standard P90 stuff...

Every once in a while, we’re lucky enough to repair a vintage pickup that absolutely blows us away. Monty’s '54 P90s are a recreation of a set of vintage P90s, modelled on the two best examples we have ever seen here at Monty’s, one from a 1954 Gibson Les Paul and the other from a mid-60s Epiphone Century.

The thing that really struck us about these vintage Gibson P90s (and for anyone wondering, 60s Epiphones absolutely did have real Gibson P90s) is how much clarity they had; they have all the thick tones that you might expect, but with less mid-range and a lower output than many modern P90s. We’ve emulated all of this in the '54, creating an incredibly versatile P90 with a little less honk than many people associate with this kind of a pickup. It is impressively touch responsive, with full, airy mids and plenty of bite.

Given the '54 P90’s pedigree, it is unsurprisingly that it works absolutely brilliantly in Les Paul Jr (and Special) style guitars. Seriously, if you want to nail the classic Les Paul Jr tone, this is the pickup for you.

Just like the pickups on which it's modeled, this pickup has no wax-potting, ensuring maximum clarity and responsiveness.

This set is made specifically for Epiphone Casinos and Gibson 330s, they come with different baseplates and metal covers. Our standard dogear pickups will not fit these guitars. The covers are made from premium German nickel silver and are sonically transparent.
